Hei Se Hui Mei Mei (traditional Chinese: 黑澀會美眉; simplified Chinese: 黑涩会美眉; pinyin: Hēi Sè Huì Měi Méi) is a group of Taiwanese singers. The group's name is a pun on the words "Mei Mei" (Traditional Chinese: 妹妹; literally: "sisters; little girls") and "Hei She Hui" (Traditional Chinese: 黑社會; literally: "black society; triad"). Channel [V] held an audition an all female pop group, in the end 40 or 50 girls got in. Every week, 20 of the girls star in the variety show Wo Ai Hei Se Hui (我愛黑澀會). The program's host is Blackie (黑人), and the girls form his "society." Famous singers and actors, such as Jolin Tsai, Alan Luo, and S.H.E, are featured as guests on the show. Sometimes they do activities without a celebrity guest where only the girls are involved. The group also actively participates in community service activities. They choose more girls every once in a while, and there are currently about 60 so far.
Channel [V] picked nine members to represent the other girls, as 60 girls would be difficult to fit on a stage. These nine members were Gui Gui, Xiao Jie, Mei Mei, Apple, Xiao Xun, Ya Tou, Xiao Man, Tong Tong, and Da Ya. Together, they are affectionately known as the Qiu Niu Niu (Chinese: 九妞妞; pinyin: Jiǔ Niū Niū) for short.
The nine members were separated into two groups: Da Ya, Xiao Man, Ya Tou, GuiGui, and Apple comprised Fen Hong Gao Ya Dian (Traditional Chinese: 粉紅高壓電; pinyin: Fěn Hóng Gāo Yā Diàn; literally: "high-voltage pink"), and Mei Mei, Xiao Xun, Xiao Jie, and Tong Tong (since departed) comprised Tian Xin Hong Zha Ji (Traditional Chinese: 甜心轟炸機; pinyin: Tián Xīn Hōng Zhà Jī; literally: "sweet-hearted flying bombers").
On October 5, 2007 Tong Tong left He Se Hui Mei Mei (including the Wo Ai Hei Se Hui show). It is rumoured that she left because of a rift with band leader Da Ya over an alleged affair with Tong Tong's boyfriend at the time, Hakka-Pac; other sources suggest that Tong Tong was forced to depart due to violations of her contract. Tong Tong reports that she began cutting herself during this stressful time.
Moving forward, Tong Tong has stated that she plans to concentrate on her singing and dancing. She is currently working for Momo Kids, a Taiwanese television company featuring children's programming.
