Based on the book by Vladimir Bogomolov about the counterespionage organisation SMERSH that during the war operated on territory that was only just liberated from the fascists.
The events take place in August 1944. Belorussia has only just been liberated but enemy agents are still working there. From time to time a group of spies "Neman", that can't be caught, sends encoded messages, that are impossible to decode. The military counterespionage organisation, with captain Alekhin and his group, has to find the spies, and the time is running out.
